Abstract
The Loss of the Night app (Verlust der Nacht) allows citizen scientists to observe the brightness of the night sky. The goal of the project is to track how artificial skyglow (light pollution) is changing worldwide during the transition to solid state lighting, such as LED street lamps. In this talk, we present an online application to allow citizen scientists to access and view their own data, and to perform simple trend analyses for user-selected locations with either their own data or the global dataset. The application development was funded by the MYGEOSS "First Call For Innovative Apps in the environmental and social domains", and implemented by interactive scape GmbH.
