 Abstract: To what extent tectonic activity is revealed in electromagnetic fields, emanations of soil gases, acoustic-gravity waves, crust fluid dynamics, atmospheric electricity, etc. - still remains unsolved problem of geophysics. Fundamental shortcomings of searches for earthquake prediction methods are lack of complexity, gap between theory and observations, and absence of models that would predict magnitude of possible effects. Correct theoretical analysis of possible mechanisms would make it possible to close physically unrealizable areas of research. The opportunity to make a leap in solving these problems exists due to experimental facilities of Kamchatka geodynamic test site. Kamchatka peninsula is among most seismically active regions. In terms of breadth and complexity of geophysical observations the Kamchatka Polygon has no equal in the world. In this talk we provide a short review on recent results obtained by the Moscow-Kamchatka team. Study of background electromagnetic fields in the ULF-ELF frequency ranges revealed a non-seismic origin of previously reported “earthquake precursors”. A theoretical model was built to evaluate the effect of radon and aerosol emissions from soil on atmospheric electricity and ionosphere. Study of the electromagnetic and ionospheric responses to various geophysical events in Pacific region has found new effects. Physical mechanisms of some seismo-electromagnetic phenomena and methods for their discrimination from meteorological or space weather disturbances have been proposed. Geomagnetic effect of the atmospheric acoustic resonance excited by Tonga eruption has been examined both experimentally and theoretically. Feasibility to detect on low-Earth orbit satellites ULF-ELF emissions from a large-scale seismic source has been numerically modeled.
