Abstract:
From 15 years of time-variable gravity fields of the GRACE mission, the mass-induced part of the global mean sea-level rise
is estimated to be 1.5 mm/a, superimposed with large seasonal and also interannual variations as a consequence of climate
change and anthropogenic use of continental water resources. Circulation-induced bottom pressure anomalies additionally observed
by GRACE are found to be in line with predictions from ocean general circulation models and are related to large-scale
variations in ocean transport in response to shifts in the surface wind regimes.
