Abstract: In this work, studied an extreme rainfall event, that brought damage to people and economy on June 20-21,2020 over the central Mongolia, using the fourth version of the WRF (Weather Research and Forecasting) simulation program. The sensitivity effects of different cumulus schemes (Kain-Fritsch, Betts-Miller-Janjic, and Tiedtke schemes) on extreme rainfall and huge cumulonimbus cloud simulations in a central Mongolian region were analyzed. The performance of the model is verified with the surface meteorological observations from the National Agency Meteorology and Environment Monitoring. The study fields used for the synoptic-scale analysis are taken from datasets of the hourly ERA5 reanalysis data. The synoptic processes that contribute to the formation of a cumulonimbus cloud represent a convergence line associated with cold frontogenesis over Central Mongolia. This study shows that our simulation results for the prediction of rainfall reasonable accuracy.
