Abstract:
The downstream part of the Oued EL Ouaar watershed in the midlle Souss in Morocco is the most important area in terms of the socio-economic and environment. However, this area is very much threatened by frequent severe floods. The spatialization of flood-prone areas in a high spatial resolution has become a major challenge for the population and the authorities as well for the protection and development of the territory. Thus, this study is conducted by applying three different approaches, including firstly the processing of Sentinel-1 radar image, secondly the MCA methods (AHP; ViKoR-AHP; Shannon Entropy) in order to combine six factors (elevation, rainfall, permeability, slope-cost-distance, SPI and TWI) and thirdly the hydraulic modeling HEC-RAS. The comparison of results and their validation are performed using 39 historically flooded sites which are collected during one mounth field mission using sociological survey and flood indicators. This study highlight that the SHANNON entropy method is the most reliable with an accuracy of 95% and a strong correlation with the HEC-RAS model.
