Abstract: SeisComP is nowadays the most widely distributed software package for seismological real-time data acquisition, processing and analysis. Initially developed by GFZ German Research Centre for Geosciences, focusing on data acquisition and exchange as well as basic automatic earthquake monitoring, it has since been enhanced with interactive analysis and fast magnitude calculation for tsunamigenic earthquake warning. Over the years, the SeisComP ecosystem has been extended with open and closed source modules that support additional application domains such as local and induced seismic monitoring, moment tensor inversions, earthquake early warning, seismic and infrasound array processing, structural health monitoring, earthquake engineering analysis, earthquake information dissemination as well as tsunami simulation and decision support. The wide use of SeisComP in over 500 earthquake and tsunami warning services, research institutes, universities and industrial enterprises all over the world has simplified and unified the exchange of seismic data, station meta data and earthquake parameters. SeisComP adopted and formed global standards such as SeedLink, MSeed, QuakeML, FDSN stationXML and FDSN web services. The functionality of the SeisComP ecosystem is growing and under active development and maintenance. We give a perspective on the evolution of SeisComP- past, present and future.
