Abstract:
The Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF) Model can be used to model local processes, especially the wind flow pattern in the atmosphere, which is of interest from the perspective of the flow pattern and clean energy potential in urban and suburban environments. The success of model simulation depends on selecting the ideal boundary conditions, spatial resolution, and schema configuration. In this study, ECMWF-ERA5 and NCEP-FNL datasets provided boundary conditions and 7 configurations are examined to achieve time-spatial changes of wind patterns at different levels with the WRF model at Tehran. The simulation of the zonal wind (u) component significantly improved at both boundary conditions of ERA5 and FNL increasing the vertical level and the simulation of the meridional (v) component of the wind at vertical levels of 700 and 500 hPa was more acceptable than the level of 850 hPa. These findings demonstrated that the physical configuration has a greater impact on the simulations at the low levels than high vertical levels simulations but the initial boundary conditions impact simulation accuracy by increasing the vertical level.According to the average output of the statistical indices at the level of 850 hPa for the zonal and meridional components, respectively, the schemas Exp(1_YSU) and Exp(2_MYJ), at the level of 700 hPa Exp(7_MRF) and at the level of 500 hPa Exp(7_MRF) and Exp(2_MYJ) have driven the best results.
