Abstract: The workshop was organized against the background that the Helmholtz Centers are aiming to adopt a research software policy by 2025. It is to provide an update on the status at the individual centers and provide an opportunity to learn from their experiences and to network to support each other in reaching the goal of deciding and implementing a research software policy. In this sense Reports form three centers were supplemented by the introduction of the Helmholtz Incubator Software Award and of services offered by Helmholtz Projects HIFIS and HiRSE-PS. All but one Center sent at least two representatives to participate in the workshop. The one center not represented could not send representatives because of a parallel meeting. In the invitation for the workshops all centers were asked to send participants who could represent different communities of the center. This request reflected the desirability to design the process of formulating the research software policy as inclusive as possible.
