Abstract
Various field measurements (surface, positions, heights, and gravity at different points on the Earth's surface) require a reference surface known as "geodetic data", realized through classical geodetic methods, which are costly field surveys or modern 3D and gravity references which enabled the positions of geodetic stations determined within a well-defined frame with mm accuracy. One of the main ASIG’s responsibilities is the maintenance and updating of the Albanian Geodetic Reference System/Framework according to European standards, to enable the performance of accurate geodetic and cartographic works. In the last years we have seen tremendous growth in the utilization of geodetic observations and methods for scientific and practical applications, so many funds are invested in ground high-precision geodetic infrastructure. The accuracy of geo-positioning, and the scientific and societal applications depend on the reliable technological and scientific infrastructure. In this presentation, the status of the geodetic infrastructure in Albania is highlighted, with its achievements and shortcomings.
