Abstract
Global precipitable water vapor has shown an increasing trend over the last 30 years. However, the linear trend varies depending on the analysis period, associated with interannual to decadal variability of the water vapor. This study examines the long-term variability of the water vapor in the tropical Indian Ocean, which exhibits significant interannual to decadal changes linked to the Indian Ocean Dipole, El Nino Southern Oscillation, etc. Particularly, a plausible influence of the strong positive phase of the Indian Ocean Dipole in 2019 will be discussed based on the statistical analysis of the reanalysis product and radiosonde dataset.
