Abstract: A high-resolution and high-accuracy gravimetric geoid model was determined in the Region of Central Macedonia (RCM) in northern Greece supporting the recently established network of Continuously Operating Reference Stations (CORS) in this area within the GeoNetGNSS project. The new regional geoid model was derived by the combination of existing land and marine gravity data with newly acquired gravity measurements. The latter have been carried out over the wider region and especially around the newly established stations of the GeoNetGNSS network. The geoid height computation was performed by applying the Remove-Compute-Restore technique and the Stokes integral in the frequency domain via a 2D spherical Fast Fourier Transform and the Wong-Gore modification. The global geopotential model XGM2019e was used as the reference field in order to model the long-wavelength part of the gravity spectrum and the Residual Terrain Model method was employed for the computation of the topographic effects. A hybrid deterministic and stochastic approach was used to model the residuals of the gravimetric geoid solution relative to available GNSS/Levelling geoid heights. Various parametric models ranging from simple north-south bias and tilt to 2nd and 3rd order degree polynomial models were evaluated at over 500 benchmarks in the entire study area. The absolute differences of the adjusted residuals between the gravimetric geoid model and the GNSS/Levelling geoid heights were also analysed and a stochastic modelling of the residuals was investigated as well, as support to GNSS-based orthometric height determination.
