 Abstract: High vertical and temporal resolution wind and temperature measurements are very important for the study of the dynamics and coupling of the atmosphere. Doppler-Rayleigh lidars are the only remote sensing method that are capable of making simultaneous, co-located measurements in the stratosphere and lower mesosphere (range of 15km-70km). Currently, there are only a few systems in operation in the whole world, more are needed to improve our understanding of the middle atmosphere. In an effort to close the measurement gap and conduct new observational research into middle atmospheric dynamics, the IAP has recently developed a new Doppler-Rayleigh lidar system. We will present the first 18 months of wind and temperature measurements obtained with this new system, as well as a couple of interesting case studies we have already obtained from different seasons.
