Abstract
When the particles emitted by the Sun, mainly protons are accelerated either in the Sun's atmosphere or locally in interplanetary space, high energy particles (MeVs) are enhanced by orders of magnitudes in the heliosphere, called a Solar Proton Event (SPE) or Solar Energetic Particle (SEP) event or solar radiation storm. If Earth lies on the path magnetically connected to the source regions of these particles, they showered on the Earth. These events greatly modify the cosmic ray counts detected on the ground, which have a strong dependence on the vertical geomagnetic cutoff rigidity. Neutron detectors monitor the neutrons which are secondary cosmic ray particles resulting from the interactions of primary cosmic ray particles with the atmospheric nuclei. We examine the response of neutron counts to the selected SPE events during 2001 to 2020, all over the globe. The modulations of neutron counts during the selected SPE events may shed some light on the dynamics and propagation of energetic particles around the globe.
